S.E. Hinton has been dubbed for over 30 years as the 'messenger of youth'. While she doesn't feel that way (in her words, "I think they get the message mixed up with the messenger," ) she is very grateful that the story has endoured over the years and has generations of readers who credit her books,
"The Outsiders" especially, as being the book that "got them reading." However, as of 2004 that is changing. Her newest book, and first adult audience oriented novel, is totally different. It's a fast paced adventure story with dynamic, deeply drawn key characters, wild experiences, and deep plot elements that draw you in and keep you there till the last page.
